  • Summary

We conducted the “Tanzania Field School” from August 20 to September 5, 2013. Four graduate students and teachers of ASAFAS participated in the program. From August 20 to 23, we held lectures and practical exercises in Dar es Salaam and Bagamoyo, on the history, culture, and arts of Tanzania. We held practical exercises under the theme “Village Life and Environment” at three areas- Kingorwila Village, located near a large city(from August 24 to 26), Tema Village, where a local NGO carries out tree planting activities(from August 28 to 31), and at Pemba Island that is located in Indian Ocean (from September 1to 5). On August 31, there was a presentation by graduate students, on the knowledge and insights they obtained during their stay in the villages, and we held the Conclusion Ceremony on September 5.
